Intimate relationships require an investment of time, care, commitment, and trust, as well as a willingness to be vulnerable. When difficulties do arise, experienced support and guidance can make a significant difference. As a relationship-focused counsellor, my goal is to provide a safe space for you and your partner to deeply understand – and begin shifting – your interpersonal dynamics in order to build a capacity for greater harmony and connection.
I work with a combination of psycho-therapeutic and psycho-educational approaches. This means at times therapy will be the focus in the session, and this may include uncovering and sharing feelings, clarifying beliefs, and recognizing unhealthy patterns, while at other times education will be the focus in the session, meaning learning new concepts, practicing skills, and debriefing application of skills and concepts outside of sessions may be the primary focus. These two approaches are necessary in order to compliment the couple’s progress by unpacking and processing existing challenges while also growing and evolving the relationship by adding new insights and abilities.
Together with my wife and fellow Registered Clinical Counsellor, Elinor Taylor, we operate NeurAlive Counselling & Neurofeedback, where counselling and neurofeedback combine to provide holistic support for mental health and well-being.
Relationships can be challenging, and when they are, it can leave us feeling frustrated and hopeless. You do not have to be alone in this. You and your partner can get back on the same page and learn to thrive despite the obstacles. Whether you’re in a minor challenge or in crisis, I encourage you to reach out and seek the support your relationship deserves.
